Ilit Azoulay
Born 1972, Ilit Azoulay lives and works in Tel Aviv. A BFA graduate and current MFA student at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Azoulay teaches photography at the Beit Berl Academic College for the Arts and the Minshar College. Azoulay captures the hidden condition, unrevealed at first glance. She looks for anonymous areas that are divested of the physical presence of the city, to feature, or sometimes create, a narrative. The eye is constantly searching for an “event” in her works; never resting on a blank canvas, always doubting the primary information evoked by the image. Azoulay has participated in many solo shows such as Findings at the Minshar College of Art Gallery, Tel Aviv, I Placed a Jar at the Dollinger Art Project, Tel Aviv, and Salvia, at the The Gallery in Borochov, Tel Aviv, as well as group exhibitions such as Harvest, at the Art Farm Residency, Nebraska, and 'Urim' at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem.
