Gilad Ophir
Gilad Ophir, born 1957, lives and works in Tel Aviv, Israel. Ophir is a renowned photographer, whose works are featured in the most prominent collections, such as the Tate Modern, London, the Brooklyn Museum, the Jewish Museum in New York, the Israel Museum, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art in Israel, as well as private acquisitions. Ophir's work deals with the weight of history on current vistas presenting a critical view of scenery photographs; showing traces of civilizations from the near past, man-made scars in a no-man's land. Ophir is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, New York (BFA) and Hunter College, New York (MFA). Ophir has exhibited in the most prestigious locations worldwide, among them the Tate Modern, London (solo show), Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin, the Chelsea Art Museum in New York, and many others.
