Lea Avital
Born in 1974, Lea Avital lives and works in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Avital hold a BFA and an MFA Magna Cum Laude from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design Jerusalem, and is a former student of Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, New York Avital has exhibited in many group and solo shows including the solo exhibition at the Janko-Dada Museum in Ein Hod, upon having won the Oded Messer Prize for Young Artists (2006), and a group show at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Herzelia Museum, and others. The figure in Avitalís art emerges and disappears, in constant tension between matter and non-matter, between its inner and outer sides, stillness and movement. In all the objects the same attribute resides in a simple, quotidian, material touch; a touch that generates occurrence and creation.
