Karin Mendelovici
Karin Mendelovici, born in Jerusalem, 1975, lives and works in Tel Aviv, Israel. Mendelovici is an artist, photographer, performer and video editor, and currently teaches contemporary art at the Avni Institute (Tel Aviv, Israel). An M.F.A and B.F.A graduate of the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, Mendelovici is also a former exchange Student in the Visual Art Department, University of Derby, England. Mendelovici uses photography, video, performance, sculpture, readymade, words, and all that she has in order to juxtapose between different elements, some charged with meaning and some vague. This syntax contains layers of playfulness, improvisation, and even capriciousness, together with searching and sorting out for nuances. Mendelovici has exhibited in solo shows at the Rubinís Museum, Julie M. Gallery, Tel Aviv, The Ramat-Gan Museum, Janco-Dada Museum, Ein Hod, and more. She has also participated in many group exhibitions at the Shay Arie Gallery, Artopia Gallery and Kav 16 Gallery in Tel Aviv, the Rishon Le Zion Biennale, and The Museum of Photography, Tel-Hai, and has participated in several video screenings such as at the Kulturest Gallery in Stochkolm, as well as having performed at the Fado Performance Art Center in Toronto.
