This image derives from a series of drawings called “Magic Mountains and Impossible Clouds”. Mountains, and the clouds that surround them, have long been associated with divine power. They are the point where heaven meets earth, and a journey up a mountain in hope of communing with the divine is found in both Eastern and Western mythological traditions. This work attempts to draw a map of such a journey as both actual pilgrimage and inner contemplation infused by elements of dream, desire, and imagination.
