The works of Photographer and video artist Nir Evron, conduct a curious and meticulous investigation of the many echelons of recent and ancient history, as well as the onlookers gaze itself. By reviewing the pages of history, and the use of the different languages of photography, video and film, Evron arrives at places to which the local eye is not usually exposed - historical battle-sites, darkened forests, forgotten establishments and institutions, to mention a few. his works look to convey as much about the absence of information on any given subject as they reveal about its presence.
Evron uses the manipulation of assumption in order to expose its very core. His pieces refuse one dominant way of interpretation, appearing each time under a different guise, a nature film, a documentary, an archival document etc. In both photography and video, Evron attempts to expose the constructed nature of all historical knowledge and its use by ideologies to construct identity and gain power.
